I can’t believe that this story is finally(!) heading your way, and I’m so excited for you guys to see what everyone has been up to in the years after ITA. If you happen to get an early copy, whether that’s an ARC or a finished copy, please consider putting any spoilers under a cut so other readers can choose if they want to peek or not. (Personally, I think this one is best read knowing as little as possible going in!) 🖤 Thank you and h...

2.5 stars.“We’ve inherited the darkest legacy, but they don’t know that we’ve learned how to thrive in shadows and create our own light.”If I had to describe The Darkest Legacy in one word, it would be redundent.I know that sounds a bit mean considering a lot of people, myself included, like this series. But I'm sticking with my guns on this and saying that The Darkest Legacy shouldn't have happened. That's right kids, it's time for an ...

Trigger Warnings: PTSD, anxiety, flashbacks, torture on children, mentions of terrorist acts, murder, experimentation on childrenHEAD OVER TO MY BLOG TO SEE MY REVIEW FOR THE DARKEST LEGACY AND MOREI was a bit nervous going into The Darkest Legacy. I had read The Darkest Minds series two years ago when I was still new to the book community and loved it. However, I remembered almost nothing from it and over the years my reading tastes have changed...
First ThoughtsI am overwhelmed with adrenaline and feels after just finishing THE DARKEST LEGACY. I admittedly don’t read as much dystopian fiction as I used to, but damn if Alex Bracken didn’t once again succeed in writing a story that left me impressed. She made me feel all the feels about Zu and other folks in this story! While it does have a slower start as Alex weaves the foundations together, the pay-off was definitely worth it. I loved...

pre-read: FDSKLFJEWKLFNLKNDF IM SO EXCITED FOR THIS ALEX BETTER RIP MY WIG OFFpost-read: I. LOVED. IT. Okay, so it wasn’t The Darkest Minds, and while I enjoyed that trilogy a lot more than this book, I loVED HAVING ZU’S PERSPECTIVE. Seriously, Suzume is my freaking hero. So the book is pretty thick, and you’d think that it would just be 75% filler, 25% plot, right? Switch the percentages. I was surprised at how little unimportant stuff the...

"We deserve to be free. We deserve more than this. We've inherited the darkest legacy, but they don't know that we've learned how to thrive in the shadows, and create our own light." HOW ABOUT NO?! MY FUCKING EMOTIONS ARE ALL OVER THE PLACE. This was definitely something else but quite frankly, every fan of The Darkest Minds should read this. LIAM FREAKING STEWART IS IN THIS Y'ALL*cries into cup* I was not expecting this to be as good as it turn...

4.5/5Wow I loved this!! But the ending was not enough. I need more answers here Ms. Bracken!! You can't drop a bomb like that and not tell me all of the details! But I am seriously impressed with this book. The mystery and tension from the previous three books was compiled and shoved into this one book which made for a fantastic plotline. There were so many moving parts to this and I think drawing on current political tension gave the world addit...

ACTUAL REVIEW I HAVE A LOT OF FEELINGS.Five years after the unfortunate events in The Darkest Minds trilogy, Zu takes center stage in this new stand-alone spinoff. Zu embarks on a quest to face the antagonistic forces set upon her and her fellow Psis. The title was fitting considering the fact that the book does get darker as it progresses. Immediately, the reader gets thrown into an anxiety inducing event followed by an unforgettable action-pack...

When I heard that Alex was writing a new book in the world of The Darkest Minds I was over the moon. I absolutely love that series and I was so excited to find out what happened next to these characters. And I really enjoyed this book. It was a good companion and an enjoyable return to the world.Speaking of the world, I think that was the best part of this book, the world. Alex does some really interesting things with this book. Usually you don't...

4.5 starsI really cannot believe how much I loved this book. I told myself before going into this book not to have high expectations. I kept repeating/reminding to myself that this was going to be different, that while the original gang would be there it wasn't going to be about them and so I had to try not to focus entirely on them. I was so worried that I would not really care about the new characters and would only be reading for Liam, Chubs, ...

“We deserve to be free. We deserve more than this. We’ve inherited the darkest legacy, but they don’t know that we’ve learned how to thrive in shadows and create our own light.” The Darkest Legacy is a thrill of a read. The feel of impending doom followed me throughout the story and I couldn't, for the life of me, put this book down once I got a quarter of the way through. Our protagonist Zu is well known to many of us who have read t...

First let me just say that I adore Zu. As one of the main four from the original series, she always held a little place in my heart. So hearing that we get an entire book from her perspective I was all in. And what a ride it was.Picking up five years after the third book, we are instantly thrust into a world where everyone is trying to make sense of what happened and where to go from there. Psi kids are still being reunited with families and are ...

*Source* Publisher*Genre* Young Adult / Dystopian*Rating* 3.5-4*Thoughts* The Darkest Legacy, by author Alexandria Bracken, is being sold as a companion novel to go along with the release of The Darkest Minds movie based on the book. It has been four years since In The Afterlife was released. In this world, it has been 5 years since the rehabilitation camps that had imprisoned Zu, Chubs, Ruby, & Liam who made up the group known as the Black Betty...

When I first saw that Alex was coming back to the Darkest Minds world, I was so excited. I love original trilogy, but didn't realize how much I missed the gang until I picked up TDL and saw them all again! This book is an adventure from page one. I don't feel like it slowed down at all! Catching up with the Black Betty gang was definitely my favorite part about this -- the SASS was as present as ever, and the characters clearly still love each oth...

UpdatedHonestly a little surprised that I didn't fall in love with this one. In a lot of ways, it almost felt too similar to The Darkest Minds and Ruby's emotional journey? Plus that ending was waaaay too rushed. Can't put my finger on why exactly I didn't love this book as much as I did TDM, but still loved getting to see the gang back together. Vida's lines actually made me laugh out loud. <33//No, YOU'RE the one freaking out that one of your f...

I'm so glad to return to the world of 'The Darkest Minds,' with Zu at the center. No longer a quiet little girl, but a strong and capable leader to take up Ruby's mantle and lead the Psi's in the next installment of this great series. Alexandra Bracken did an excellent job in introducing the new characters while still keeping the old characters readers fell in love with at the forefront. Can't wait to find out what happens.
