She Was the Quiet One

When twin sisters Rose and Bel Enright enroll in The Odell School, a prestigious New Hampshire boarding school, it seems like the opportunity of a lifetime. But the sisters could not be more different. The school brings out a rivalry between them that few ever knew existed. And the school itself has a dark underbelly: of privileged kids running unchecked and uninhibited; of rituals and traditions that are more sinister than they seem; of wealth a...

Back to boarding school again complete with privileged, bratty teens and the good twin/bad twin trope. Lots of angst about fitting in and falling out combined with misunderstandings and murder. It’s not bad but it is too long with characters’ inner turmoil on sensory overload. I certainly could have done without the epilogue.

Twinsies+ scandalous unpredictable characters + murder + gossip + lies= addicting ride! This was my first book by Michelle Campbell and I have to say.. it won't be my last. There were many things I enjoyed about this novel. I loved the different POV perspectives in this one.... which is always a huge PLUS in my book :). Michelle does a fantastic job of leaving you wondering who, what, where, and why until the very end!I do have to say that... un...

3.5 STARS Bel and Rose are orphaned twins and rivals, one is wild, one is quiet, but is one a murderer? The twins wealthy Grandmother sends them off to The Odell elite boarding school for their high dollar education. Bel seeks to "fit in" and be accepted by the cool group on day one, while Rose is studious and interested in her education. (OK, they are pretty much opposites). Family is family though, and these two sisters do care about each other...

Thanks you to St. Martin’s for the gifted copy that was sent to me. She Was the Quiet One by Michele Campbell was quite addicting. This one is told in multiple POVs which is always fun.Orphaned fraternal twins, Bel and Rose, go to live with their estranged Grandmother after their mother passes. Immediately, Grandmother ships them off to the Odell high school, an elite boarding school. The girls are very different from each other and on day one ...

3 starsMany thanks to Goodreads Giveaways and St. Martin’s Press for this ARC!Twin sisters + haughty boarding school + murder= A book full of characters oozing with petulance and malice. It’s like Mean Girls meets Cruel Intentions in this psychological thriller, full of immorality and wicked cliques. While I felt there was much to be desired in terms of shocks and twists, nonetheless, this book kept me reading and hanging in there until the v...

4.5! Michele Campbell's debut, It's Always the Husband was a book I very much enjoyed in 2017 and since this one was announced, I had been looking forward and am pleased to announce it did not disappoint. There is something about books set at boarding schools that immediately intrigues me, I'm not sure why, but usually this is a breeding ground for salacious drama (my favorite kind)! One other thing I love - TWINS! and twin drama! Read this book ...

Do you ever finish reading a book and feel like you've just watched a movie? I can picture every single character and scene from "She Was the Quiet One" by Michele Campbell like it unfolded right before my eyes. Campbell had me hooked from the very beginning. A twisted story of 2 orphan twins who attend a new boarding school which results in one ending up dead and the other being accused of murder. "She Was the Quiet One" is worded so well yet so...

Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for a free, electronic ARC of this novel received in exchange for an honest review. When Bel and Rose Enright are sent to The Odell School, a prestigious private school, after the death of their mother, they quickly begin to drift apart. Bel falls in with the “wrong crowd” and is soon pulling pranks and risking suspension while Rose is towing the line and following the rules, almost too compulsively. The ...

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the chance to read and review. This book was like the pot you need to boil so you can make your pasta. The more you sit there and wait for the water to boil the longer it seems to take to start percolating. I liked the story line but the characters did not draw me in. I think this book is geared to the YA circuit as it centers around a murder at an exclusive boarding school. I would recommend to an olde...

via my blog:'Neither Sarah nor Heath had a counseling background. They knew nothing about running a dorm, or providing guidance to messed-up girls. Sarah had spent her Odell years hiding from girls like that, and- to be honest- Heath had spent his time chasing them.'Rose and Bel Enright’s mother has just succumbed to cancer, the dreamier of the twins (Bel) wants nothing to change more than what already has...

3.5 stars. A well done thriller at a girls boarding school. Bel and Rose are twins. They are sent off to boarding school by their grandmother. Early on they end up on different sides of "good and bad" associations. Bel is running with the bad girls and Rose is the perfectionist wanting to do everything right and run with the "good" people. What follows is a story of jealousy, rebellion, hazing, get even, girl fights, crush on teacher, and much mo...

There’s nothing wrong with a bit of sibling rivalry, right? Wrong. She Was the Quiet One introduces you to fraternal orphaned twins - Bel and Rose. The girls, although twins - are two very different people. Rose is the good girl, who gets good grades whereas Bel is the naughty girl who just likes to have fun.Together, with the aid of their Grandmother, they enroll at Odell an elite private school. When Bel falls in with the “bad crowd,” the...

Thank you NetGalley for this book.My first Michele Campbell and I'm not disappointed. This story is fairly straight and you can see what is coming from miles away, but still an entertaining read. I liked the way the book started, a bit of a mystery, but the epilogue I could have done with0ut because for me, it was a bit too much.

Loved it!!! I became a fan of the author after reading and loving "It's Always the Husband." Right from the start you know one twin is dead and the other is locked up in the infirmary for being the killer. Of course I was hooked from the start!!I was immediately drawn into the story and felt like I was actually at the school with Bel, Rose and the Donovans. The twins are sent to the boarding school by their grandma after the death of their mother...

Twin sisters Rose and Bel Enright couldn't be more different. Rose is serious about her education, she's quiet and isn't as pretty as her sister. Bel is a wild child who runs with a bad crowd at their new school. The Odell School is a prestigious New Hampshire boarding school. This was their chance to start anew after leaving California but nothing's gotten better between the sisters. In fact, things have gotten much worse. Especially when one of...

I LOVED THIS BOOK!I’ll admit, I wasn’t crazy about it at first. If you’ve read the Private series by Kate Brian you’ll have a touch of deja vu, but please keep reading! My favorite part of this book is you don’t know which twin is dead until the end 😍Michele does a fabulous job of giving us clues that make us think it’s Bel’s dead, then she makes us think Rose is dead. Michele also does a good job of giving the characters enough b...

Full review also found here. As a note, an e-galley of this novel was sent to me via NetGalley by the publisher in exchange for an honest review. This does not effect my opinions in any way. There was a moment when I hesitated in picking this up. She Was the Quiet One had such an intriguing premise, but I haven't had the best luck when it came to stories of fictional twins lately. Then, there's the spoiled-angsty-rich-teenagers-at-boarding-school ...

First I want to thank netgalley and the author for an advanced copy of this book for my kindle! This book was a bit slow in the beginning but wow a few chapters in you were introduced to a set of twins named bel and rose. Rose is more the reserved twin and bel is the rebellious. After losing their mother they move in with grandma who sends them to a boarding school, that there family has gone to in the past. Bel joins the group of friends who is ...

2.5 Stars...Rose and Bel have lost their mother and find themselves being shipped off to live with their grandmother. Who in turn sends them off to Odell School, something has been in their Enrigth family for generations. Things go all wrong for this set of twins. Rose and Bel Enright are twin sisters who are going to an elite boarding school in New Hampshire. These twins are very different and the school brings out the competitive spirit in them. In this school the students seem to have no rules that they feel they nee to listen to which can only lead to bad ends. Sarah Donovan's husband is a teacher who wants to go places and wants the very best for their family. Sarah is now starting to see a side of he...

4.5I would like to thank Goodreads & St. Martin's Press for choosing me as a giveaway winner for this book. Although this was the first book I've read by this author, after finishing this book, I purchased a copy of her debut which I'm planning on reading soon. I felt She Was The Quiet One was a pretty good read. A nice job was done with the introduction of the characters, especially the differences of the fraternal twins Bel & Rose. It was inter...

Thank you to Netgalley and St Martin’s Press for the ARC. I hate to say it, but I did not enjoy this book. I was so looking forward to it and was beyond thrilled to have received it before the publication date, but it was a let down for me. Though, this could be someone else’s cup of tea: It was a fast read, I read it in about 4 hours, and it wasn’t horribly written, but the dialogue and characters really missed the mark for me. I couldn’...

I won this book here on Goodreads and I LOVED Michele's book "It's always the husband" so I figured I'd love this book as well.Well it was definitely a page turner. Points out how 2 siblings especially twins can be as different as night and day. I liked one of them and felt sorry for the other.Oh and the Epilogue got me!!! I thought I knew what it was going to say but I was pleasantly wrong!I can't wait to read more from Michele Campbell!

This started off good with a premise that made me excited.... boarding school drama with a dash of mean girls and murder thrown in. Unfortunately, I didn’t enjoy this very much. I had to force myself not to DNF. WHAT I LIKED: Not a whole lot. I thought the premise was good, as was the setting. About 1/3 of the way in, it lost its appeal. WHAT I DIDN’T LIKE: Most of it. I hated the twins, the friends were so cliche, Mrs. Donovan was a dimwit a...

4.5 stars! I loved this book - the only reason I didn't give it 5 stars was because I guessed who done it! This was a very good read. I liked the characters and found this book to be quite a suspenseful page turner. While I guessed who done it - I was surprised by part of the ending! Excellent writing - I already own her other book Its always the Husband - just haven't had a chance to read it yet. It's going to the top of my TBR pile!
