Super sweet and Heartwarming! Little Big Love is about a 10-year-old boy’s mission to meet his father. Centered around unconditional love, family, friendship and long-buried secrets, this is enjoyable and emotional read that made me laugh and cry! The narrative is told from the POV’s of 10-year-old Zac, his mother, Juliet, and his grandfather, Mick. 10-year-old Zac has never met his father. All that he knows is that his father “did a runne...

3.5 stars I’ve been reading so many heavy books lately, and I readily admit these are the types of stories I am drawn to. Once in a while I need a break and I read that this was a feel good story. However, I soon found that it was not a light read. There’s bullying, alcoholism, grief that causes some of the characters to make mistakes that will make them carry remorse and secrets for years. Child narrators appeal to me, mostly for their capac...

As endearing as it is entertaining. This is like a Nick Hornby novel (About a Boy, espesh) with much less "machismo" and an even higher tear-to-laugh ratio. I thoroughly enjoyed the Searching For Father story; even more, the finale which stays with you, especially if a child in your life is being bullied.Thank you, Berkley Books, for my advanced copy. :)

3.5 Stars”And in the endThe love you takeIs equal to the love you make” --The End, The Beatles, Songwriters: Paul McCartney (credited to Lennon-McCartney)With his 11th birthday on the horizon, Zac Hutchinson wants nothing more than to find his father, who, he was told, left before he was even born. None of his family, not his mother, Juliet, or his grandfather, Mick, or his grandmother talk about his father, the only thing he was told when he...

Love is blind. Love is patient. Love is kind. Love is forgiving.Sure is and oh by the way ten year old Zac is going to steal your heart in this one. Trust me!Zac Hutchinson is a young detective (in his own right) and has an accomplice Teagan to help in solving the mystery of his DAD Liam . Of course he has a colorful M.O. (modus operandi) or a way of doing things to get the job done. Using plenty of good ol fashioned grease work he uncovers the t...

Sweet and sad.. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~I do have mixed feelings about the story. The premise of the story is amazing. I’m sure so many children feel the same way as this young boy. Launching a campaign to find his dad is exactly something children of that age will do. I know I would. But what I didn’t agree with, nor did I care for, was how the adults handled the entire situation. Without giving any spoilers, let’s just say that I understand hurt...

I usually like heartwarming novels, but I think "Little Big Love" by Katy Regan came off more cutesy than anything else. I couldn't connect to the writing style or the vast of characters (three different points of view/alternating chapters). I ended up skimming huge chunks. There were some funny, touching scenes, but overall, nothing about the plot felt memorable or wholly original. I had the ending pretty much figured out early on. I'm not a fan...

I really enjoyed Little Big Lies, I would give it 4.5 stars. There wasn’t one character that I didn’t like or love. Katy Regan told the story from three alternating perspectives, Zac, the 10 year old son, Juliet, the mother of Zac, and Zac’s grandfather, Mick. Zac is determined to find his father who ran off when he was three weeks old and invite him to his 11th birthday party. This was such a well written novel.Regan did a superb job at ma...

*Thanks to NetGalley for a free e-copy in exchange for an honest review*Actual Rating: 2.5This was not exactly what I had expected, but it was an interesting read anyways! Little Big Love is written in three changing perspectives - Zac, a young boy who is overweight and searching for his father; Juliet, Zac's mother; and Mick, Zac's grandfather who is hiding a few secrets of his own. That one night, years ago, everything changed, and the family o...

A captivating family drama with the most appealing characters that draw you fully into the touching story.Young Zac has reached a point in his life where he wants to know more about the dad who abandoned him as a baby. He has always been told by his mother Juliet that Liam, his father, just took off, never to be heard from again. His grandparents have always reinforced the message, his Nan reserving a special kind of scorn anytime Liam's name is ...

Thank you to Berkley Publishing Group and NetGalley for an early review copy of Little Big Love by Katy Regan, which will publish June 12, 2018.  All thoughts are my own.Writing: 4 Plot: 4 Characters: 4.5A big story — simultaneously heartbreaking and heartwarming — about a family that fell apart after a tragedy that occurred ten years in the past and the young boy who now desperately wants to know his missing father. Little Big Love is a beautiful book that had me laughing and crying throughout because it is just such a heartfelt, endearing, and captivating family drama. Ten-year-old Zac just stole my heart in his quest to find his dad, Liam, who he knows absolutely nothing about except that no one in his family really talks about him (and if they do, his grandma gets very upset), and his mom told him that his dad ran away before he was ever born. Yet, one n...

THIS BOOK.what a beautiful, lovely book.i was lucky enough to receive an advance copy and i'm so glad because the chances i would've spotted this book or bought it are slim (because honestly, my preferred niche is young adult/fantasy), and i would've missed out entirely.boy, it tells you right on the front "funny, and wise, heart breaking, and uplifting" and i was skeptical, a little skeptical susan because eh, books can promise that but really e...

Thanks to Berkley and Penguin Random House for an advance copy!!Little Big Love is a sweet story about a family coming to terms with what happened one fateful night ten years previously. The story is told beautifully from three different point of views: Zac, a ten-year old boy on the hunt for his Dad; Juliet, Zac’s mother, who is a single mom struggling with everyday life of raising a ten-year-old; and Mick, Zac’s grandfather, who’s harrowi...

Zac is the sweetest little boy and there is nothing he wants more than to meet his father.Zac is almost 11 and he’s spent his whole life thinking his father abandoned his mother when she was pregnant. He’s been raised to believe that his dad was awful. His mom’s parents are very quick to encourage this belief. But one day Zac’s mom Juliet has a bad date and too much to drink and she lets a big secret slip. She confesses to Zac that his dad...

Thank you Berkley Publishing for this book. A heartwarming story of a boy that will steal your heart. He is in search of his Dad. Through the story we learn he is being bullied, he is struggling with so many questions about himself, and trying to make the best of it no matter what. Thank you to the publisher for a free copy of this book thanks to a Goodreads Giveaway!Charming, warm, and heartfelt. This multigenerational story about the things that make a family, the pains within a family, and the bonds of family was heartbreaking at times, but the strength of this family's love shone throughout. Grandfather Mick, mother Juliet, and son Zac have all experienced trauma through their lives, and the greatest one, the loss of Ju...

It is hard to say what this is book is primarily about. Is it about a 10-year old who is wise beyond his years, when ideally.. he shouldn't be? Or is it about a woman who takes years to process the events of a fateful night where she loses both her brother and husband? Or is it about a parent who is carrying the weight of the events that lead to him losing his son? I think this book is primarily about processing grief and the time it takes to for...

*Thanks to NetGalley for providing an Advance Reading Copy in return for an unbiased review!*I read "Little Big Love" by Katy Regan and "Flying at Night" by Rebecca L. Brown within days of each other, and I couldn't imagine not reviewing them together. Both are books about the extremely close bond between a mother and her only child (both sons), and both are told in the alternating viewpoints of the mother, the son, and the maternal grandfather. ...

I was lucky enough to receive a copy of the amazing new title from Katy Regan Little Big Man, from page one I was addicted, a mix of emotions all the way through and definitely one of my top ten favourite reads.Little Big Man starts with Zac a 10 year old young man, his best friend Teagan, Juliet his mum, Mick his grandad and his Nan, they all live in the fishing town of Grimsby. Zac has forever wondered about his father, Liam and is desperate fo...

I won an ARC from and this is my unbiased and voluntary review. While not my usual genre, I found this to be a heartwarming story about a ten year old boy, which held my interest from the begining to the end. Overweight and bullied, Zac wants to find his father and find out why he ran away before he was born. With the help of his best friend Teagan, whose father recently left his family to create another, he writes a heartfelt letter...

For an honest review I was given an advanced reading copy of Big Little Love by Penguin Random House through their first to read program. I will say I enjoyed reading this book. The book is told from three perspectives; Zac, Juliet, and Mike. Zach is on a mission to find his dad. He starts this journey for obvious reasons but his main focus is to make his mom happy again since his dad is the only man his mother has ever loved. What Zac doesn’t ...

I am such a fan of stories of family secrets, and seeing this book compared to the show Parenthood made it a “need to read” for me.Overall, the story was enjoyable. It took a bit of time to get a handle on what was going on (especially when changing narrators) but I came to really enjoy switching narrators. It gave more information from a different perspective that helped to deepen the storyline. However, in the end, I felt like too much went ...

Debut author Katy Regan paints a portrait of a family that is held together by love but is just barely hanging on. Juliet had Zac ten years ago and that was exactly when the horrible thing happened and Liam, Zac's father, left. Now Zac is old enough to want more than just his mother's and grandparents love- he wants to know about his dad. Zac is overweight and is being bullied at school and Juliet also uses food and alcohol as a comfort device. A...

This book is not my normal type of read I entered a giveaway and got a large print paperback in the mail from Penguin Random House publishing company.I say this is a sweet story about a 10 year old boy who is dealing with a lonely mum. handling being bullied for his weight. and also determined to find his father who every one said left before he was born. He also has a great friendship with a girl next door who struggles with a depressed mother a...

It’s easy to love and care about Zac; he’s a 10 year old sensitive, overweight, bullied little boy who decides he wants to find his father who, he has been told, left before he was born. He is joined in his quest to find his father by his loyal friend, Teagan. However, in their detective work they find f...

This story is told by Zac, a ten year old boy who is overweight and bullied relentlessly at school.  Those parts were horrible to read because I know things like that really do go on in schools.  The story is also told by Zac's mom, Juliet, and his grandpa, Mick.  Zac was told his dad left him and his mom before he was born so Zac and his best friend, Teagan decide to find him because Zac overheard his mom say she still loved his dad.  When Z...
